Recycled CD Christmas Tree Ornaments

These CD ornaments are fun to create.  They can be glued together by adults, and decorated by kids.  Click on "read more" to read. . . .

Items needed:
~ old CD's
~ hot glue gun, hot glue gun sticks
~ thin string or trim for hanger
~ beaded trim in various colors
~ fabric trim in various styles and colors
~ scissors
~ sequins
~ plastic gems in various sizes and shapes
~ white glue such at Tacky Glue
~ optional:  tweezers (for handling tiny gems)

1. Heat the glue sticks in the hot glue gun, on a safe surface.  We placed ours inside a cardboard box lid.

2. Cut a piece of thin trim or string for the hanger, and place it on the inside of one of the CD's.  Glue two CD's together, using the hot glue, and placing the CD's so the backsides are on the inside (gluing the hanger in between them). Allow the glue to cool and dry.

3. Using the hot glue gun, carefully place a thin strip of hot glue all around the outside edge as shown in the top photo, and attach beaded trim.  Allow glue to cool and dry.

4. Using white glue, decorate one side of the ornament, and allow the glue to dry completely.  There are so many various ways to decorate these (colors, shapes of beads, fabric trim, and beaded trim).

Have fun, recycle, and create!
